For our next CS on the Spot, on Thursday the 25th of September 2025 at Filmtheater Kriterion, we are speaking to Maartje Bakker, a UvA MSc Political Communication graduate and current Research Master student in Communication Science.

As a spokesperson for the Municipality of Amsterdam, she translates complex issues into clear and accessible messages for the public. This includes writing press releases, arranging interviews with board members, and responding to press inquiries. With a background in design, Maartje brings creativity and research together to shape impactful communication. She also focuses on political communication and has done her Master’s thesis on how emotional cues in a political advertisement, such as music, influence the way voters evaluate candidates.
