The research and academic sectors have their own unwritten rules and culture. To succeed, you’ll need strong analytical skills, perseverance, and the ability to think critically and solve complex problems. UvA alumni with experience in research and PhD careers will share their insights into the dynamics of academia, helping you determine if this path is right for you and how to navigate the application process effectively.
Humanities, Behavioural Sciences, and Creative Industries are fields of study that involve creative thinking, understanding human behaviour, and exploring cultural and social trends. UvA alumni from these directions have found their path in sectors like media, education, psychology, arts, and culture. They’ll share their experiences, offer practical advice on navigating career opportunities, and provide insights into how to build a successful career in these dynamic and evolving industries.
The non-profit and NGO sector is broad, with large organisations like the EU and UN, but it is mostly made up of smaller, lesser-known foundations. These organisations focus on causes such as human rights, environmental sustainability, and education. UvA alumni will share their experiences working in this sector and provide insights into the career opportunities, challenges, and rewards of making a difference in these organisations.
